CalFire has scheduled a controlled burn today near Rancho Jamul Drive and SR-94 between 9am and 3pm depending upon weather conditions. Smoke will be visible throughout East County.
The controlled fire will take place from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Wednesday, along state Route 94 near Rancho Jamul Drive, per Cal Fire Battalion Chief Nick Schuler.
The burn is intended to reduce the fire hazard and enhance 110 acres of habitat, Schuler said. It also will provide firefighter training.
Thanks to CalFire Twitter, Brush Fire Partyline, and Outer Jamul FireSafe Council for the heads’ up and extra info.
