SAN DIEGO, May 14, 2014 – Due to fires impacting major transmission infrastructure, San Diego Gas & Electric (SDG&E) is calling for conservation and has activated all demand response programs. Immediate reduction of energy use by customers throughout SDG&E’s service territory will help to maintain electric reliability today and tomorrow.

SDG&E encourages the following conservation tips:

o   Turn off all lights, appliances or other electrical equipment that are not being used.

o   Turn up the thermostat in your home or office (if possible) to 78 degrees or above. If possible, use fans instead of air conditioning.

o   Do not use major appliances, such as dishwashers or clothes washers/dryers from 5 – 9 p.m. and reduce use after 9 p.m.

BE SAFE.
